School Safety Assessments

Senturian One Ltd. Co. offers safety assessments to help identify potential vulnerabilities, as well as security-related forces for students, personnel and visitors. The analysis will help school officials understand the risks and allow them to plan appropriately to provide a safe and learning environment.

A safety assessment will analyze the following, including but not limited to: Evaluation of the surrounding community, campus access points, perimeter access control for each building, visitor and contractor screening procedures, surveillance systems, intrusion alarms, communications systems, interior access control, student supervision and monitoring, overview of current policies and procedures, including emergency operations plans proper and effective documentation, student discipline, etc.

With the enactment of Texas Senate Bill 11, all Texas school districts must adopt a Multi-hazard Emergency Operation Plan that addresses the following:

• Prevention measures
• Incorporation of substitute teachers in emergency response training
• Employees access to electronic communication
• Adequate district infrastructure for effective communication during an emergency
• Provisions for addressing safety, specifically regarding portable building and students/staff with disabilities
• Parent notification during crisis situations and designating team members responsible for communication
• Psychological safety for all affected parties after a disaster or emergency situation
• Policy for substitute teacher access to district facilities and materials necessary to aid in responding to an emergency
• The names of members of the District Safety and Security Committee and meeting dates

These plans will be periodically reviewed by the Texas School Safety Center and a public hearing may be held in cases of non-compliance.

NOTICE: As of Sept. 1, 2023, Texas HB 3 now requires at least one ARMED security officer at EVERY public school campus (including charters) during school hours. Schools may contract with a licensed private security company to ensure compliance.
